By decision of the Rennes Commercial Court, Europlasma’s takeover bid for FDB becomes effective on May 1. This operation saves 266 jobs (93% of the workforce) and restarts industrial activity at the Caudan site (Lorient, Morbihan). <\/span><\/p>\n
The takeover ensures the continuity of local foundry expertise, which was previously dedicated to the automotive industry, and now directs the site toward new markets, particularly defense, with the production of hollow bodies for mortar shells. This new activity will offset the decline in automotive volumes.
Europlasma, a French group positioned in strategic industrial sectors such as defense and hazardous waste management, has integrated this operation into a strategy of industrial sovereignty and energy transition. This integration will provide Europlasma with new capabilities and skills in the manufacturing of complex metal parts. <\/span><\/p>\n
Despite recent investments (modernization, commercial guarantees, aid from Renault), FDB faced severe difficulties and entered receivership in January 2025.
